The Battle of the Mind – Deacon Roney Kuteesa
MAIN LESSON IDEA
By Deacon Roney Kuteesa
TO HELP BELIEVERS REALISE THE IMPORTANCE OF SAFEGUARDING THEIR MINDS TO IMPROVE THEIR CHRISTIAN WALK.
MAIN PASSAGE
2 Corinthians 10:3-5
INTRODUCTION
We can be taken hostage in our minds, by believing lies about ourselves, life, or the world around us. God wants us to demolish the walls of resistance in our minds and strengthen our knowledge of the truth.PAUL wrote his second letter to the Corinthians at a very vulnerable time in his life. He had learned that the church of Corinth was struggling, and he sought to take action to preserve the unity of that local body of believers.
APOSTLE PAUL NOTES THE FOLLOWING IN THIS PASSAGE
there is a constant battle raging in our minds
Our enemy the devil wages war in our minds through feelings, convictions, and opinions that exalt themselves against the knowledge of God
vHe inserts and alters thoughts to affect how we think then how we think affects how we behave.
PAUL identifies 3 challenges that our minds face ;
Strong holds –a mindset or attitude that is extremely difficult to break free from.it is equivalent to being a prisoner in a maximum-security prison
A place where sin or belief is strongly defended by believing lies
Arguments-This means reasoning, speculation, and thought. We must demolish any argument working against us and replace them with biblical truth
Understanding the true knowledge of God’s word leads to correct thinking and a correct attitude which leads to obedience to Christ.
Our thoughts are impacted by what we think
GEN 3:6 Eve believed a lie which became truth to her times like Adam and Eve the enemy deceives us and we accept his lies. These affect our lives, our view of life our view of God
Nb Our lives move in the direction of our strongest thoughts
How do we demolish strongholds and arguments
- Hold the sword all the time Eph 6:17 and the sword of the spirit which is the word of God.
- We must pray ….Eph 6:18 Battles are won on the knees
- We are to take up the shield of faith Eph 6:16 when the enemy introduces worry in our minds, it’s the shield of faith that is our protection.
Great sermon
